Sammy Ramsey
he/him
Dr. Samuel Ramsey is a National Geographic Wayfinder, NPR Entomology Correspondent, and Endowed Professor at the University of Colorado Boulder. As a honey bee disease researcher, he's observed that the healthiest bee populations are always the most diverse. He brings that lesson to his work with people as he advocates for justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion in communities of faith.
As the gay son of two pastors, both of which have formerly supported initiatives to transition same-sex attracted people into heterosexuality via prayer and counseling, Ramsey is uniquely positioned to address the complicated intersection between sexuality, science, and the Christian faith. His experience as a worship leader in a conservative Sovereign Grace Ministries Church and formerly president of Campus Crusade for Christ Cornell in college forced him to work out his faith with literal fear and trembling. That journey led him to ever deeper faith and peace anchored in the immovable love of Christ which he addresses through his public talks and songwriting.
